LATENDAEXPERIENCE presents a public art installation by KATJA LOHER
PERFORMANCE Thursday 22nd @ LA TENDA BOUTIQUE Via Solferino, 10, 7-10 pm
This upcoming Milano Fashion Week, fashion lovers will get a closer look at the art of Katja Loher, the internationally renowned Swiss artist that raises awareness of our environmental footprint through videos and performances. The work in the exhibition is inspired by The Five Elements. Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water are a comprehensive template that organizes all natural phenomena and reflects a deep understanding of the order underlying all things in our world. The artist aims to uncover the beauty behind the creation and cycle of an ecosystem and wonders how to reach a future of harmony between Man and Earth. To create her art Katja travels around the world to capture the greatness of Nature. This footage becomes the scenery of her visionary world. In her studio she collaborates with a wide range of professionals such as architects, dancers, musicians, poets and choreographers to stage a play where zoomorphic characters move in the space as they'd do in their natural habitat. After editing the nature footage with the bird’s eye view dance scenes, she staged in the studio, the artist installs the videos inside hand-blown glass sculptures, projects them onto spheres or incorporates them into furniture. LTE and Loher are collaborating to present to the public a body of work depicting all the Five Elements. In the main window her sculptures are displayed while a woven spider web filters the projection of a Videoplanet installed above the Via Solferino sidewalk. The installation takes us in an immersive journey, especially suggestive at night. After orchestrating the BEE MANIFESTO for the last decade, Loher dives under water, and founds the PLANKTON MANIFESTO, Association for Art & Life Below Water, a collaborative movement based on art, creativity, and empathy that draws attention to the invisible, threatened underwater world. She lives between New York, Milan, and Menorca. Her work has been exhibited worldwide, and is part of many private, and public collections as the Perez Art Museum in Miami, the Credit Swiss Collection in Geneva, and eN Arts Collection in Tokyo among the others LATENDA EXPERIENCE is the artist program conceived to encourage public engagement with contemporary art through curated art windows in a storefront.
LTE is sponsored by LATENDA Boutique Milano.
